Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I am honored that you’ve arrived here, and I would be privileged to witness your strength and power throughout your pregnancy and birth journey.

Many women who choose freebirth do so to fully embody the role of the sole protagonist in their birth experience, opting not to rely on midwives or medical support. Others may choose a sovereign birth, inviting the support of a doula while maintaining their autonomy. Both paths are valid, and the decision rests solely with you, the woman, to determine the support that aligns best with your vision and needs.

You can count on my support as a doula from the very first trimester, whether you’re committed to a freebirth or still exploring your options. If you’re uncertain about freebirth or decide to change your mind along the way, I’ll be there to support you every step of the journey. My goal is to help you prepare and feel confident for your birth by providing you with the information and knowledge you need to make empowered decisions about your labor and birth.

During labor, I’m here to support you both logistically and energetically. Logistically, I handle the details and physical needs that arise, so you can stay fully focused on your birthing experience. This might mean ensuring you have water nearby, caring for other children or soothing anxious partners, preparing the birth pool, or attending to any tasks that allow you to progress comfortably and confidently as you welcome your baby.

Energetically, my role is to create a supportive and calming environment, helping keep fear and tension out of your birthing space. I coordinate the energy in the room, allowing you to connect fully with your body and baby, embracing this life-changing process in a space of peace and presence.

As an herbalist specializing in women’s health, I provide natural herbal care tailored to support your well-being throughout pregnancy. I’ll guide you on using herbs to naturally relieve common discomforts like morning sickness, heartburn, hemorrhoids, yeast infections, and any other disturbances that may arise, allowing you to nurture your body in a gentle, effective way.

Each of my doula clients receives a specially prepared goodie bag filled with handmade, natural products. Inside, you’ll find a cream for perineum massage, an intimate soap, an herbal blend to support perineum healing postpartum, a womb-strengthening tincture, and a relaxing foot soak for those final weeks of pregnancy. These items are crafted with care to provide the soothing support you deserve.

In addition to my doula training, I have completed numerous advanced courses in birth support, emergency preparedness, and herbalism, ensuring that I bring comprehensive expertise to every aspect of your care.

Please remember that as your doula and herbalist, I am not a medical professional and do not provide clinical care or medical advice. My role is to support you with information, guidance, and compassionate care throughout your pregnancy and birth journey. You remain the primary decision-maker, and any outcomes are your responsibility. I am here as a partner in co-creating a positive and empowering birth experience, honoring your choices and preferences, but cannot be held accountable for the outcomes of your birth.

Ever since I found out I was pregnant, I knew I wanted a doula by my side, especially during childbirth. Fernanda was the right choice, exceeding my expectations. She demonstrated theoretical and practical knowledge and gave me 100% of the support I needed. Fernanda advocated for me with the medical team and also supported my partner. It was the best investment I could make.

Fernanda was our doula and alchemical guardian of our placenta. She brought me the capsules, tincture of placenta and an enchanted little drum for our baby. In pregnancy a soap with healing herbs and herbs for vaporizing the uterus. I also did the rebozo closing ritual with her and it was wonderful. Fern brings good information, security and good laughs in moments of relaxation. I highly recommend her!

My husband and I attended the pregnancy and birth course gave by Fern. I absolutely recommend it! She has a huge knowledge so it was very informative, giving us insights and support to prepare the birth plan and for the birth itself.

Frequently asked questions

What is Sovereign Birth Support?
Sovereign birth support is designed for women who choose to birth autonomously, without the presence of medical professionals, while still desiring the presence of a supportive doula. My role is to provide guidance, resources, and emotional support to help you feel prepared and confident in your choice, empowering you to fully connect with your body and the birthing process.
How is Sovereign Birth Different from Freebirth?
Freebirth typically involves a birthing experience without any support professionals, where the birthing woman is the sole decision-maker and authority. Sovereign birth, however, allows for the inclusion of a doula who provides logistical and energetic support without medical intervention. Both choices respect the woman’s autonomy, allowing her to select the form of support that feels most empowering.
What Can I Expect from Your Support During Sovereign Birth?
During labor, I offer logistical support—attending to practical details like hydration, birth pool preparation, and caring for other children or partners. I also create an energetically supportive environment, helping to keep the space calm and free of fear so you can connect deeply with your body and your baby. My goal is to coordinate the energy in the room, fostering a peaceful atmosphere where you feel empowered and undistracted.
Are You a Medical Professional?
No, I am not a medical professional. As a doula and herbalist, my role is purely supportive and non-clinical. I provide information, guidance, and natural care, but I am not responsible for any medical outcomes. Your birth experience and its outcomes are your responsibility, and I am here to support you in making empowered decisions that align with your vision for birth.
What Herbal Support Do You Offer During Pregnancy?
As an herbalist specializing in women’s health, I provide safe, natural remedies for common pregnancy discomforts like morning sickness, heartburn, hemorrhoids, and yeast infections. You’ll also receive a goodie bag containing handmade, natural products to support your journey, including a cream for perineum massage, an intimate soap, a postpartum herbal blend, a womb-strengthening tincture, and a relaxing foot soak for the final weeks of pregnancy.
How Do I Know If Sovereign Birth is Right for Me?
Choosing a sovereign birth is a deeply personal decision. If you feel called to birth in a way that centers your autonomy, with supportive guidance but without medical intervention, sovereign birth may be the right path for you. If you are uncertain, I’m here to discuss your options and help you explore what feels most empowering and aligned with your values.
When Should I Begin Working with a Doula for Sovereign Birth?
Ideally, we would begin working together as early as the first trimester to build a foundation of trust and preparation. However, I am available to provide support at any point during your pregnancy, even in the later stages. My priority is to support you whenever you feel ready.
Will You Work with My Partner During Birth?
Yes, I involve partners in meaningful ways during the birth experience. I can guide them in techniques for supporting you, helping to create a collaborative and comforting environment. My goal is to ensure both you and your partner feel confident and connected throughout the process.
