Placenta Medicine
honoring your placenta
The placenta is an incredibly precious organ, symbolizing a child’s roots in the motherland and serving as a nurturing and protective force throughout pregnancy. Rich in nutrients, the placenta offers countless benefits for mothers during the postpartum period, from supporting emotional balance and lactation to enhancing energy levels and aiding in recovery.
There are many ways to honor your placenta, whether through consumption, art, or a meaningful offering to Pachamama. The placenta medicine I offer allows you to preserve and celebrate this sacred connection, with options such as encapsulations, tinctures, creams, and special keepsakes. Additionally, I provide unique readings that connect the placenta to family lineage and spiritual insights, creating a powerful remembrance of this transformative time.
Keeping the placenta after birth is your family’s right, and honoring it is a deeply personal journey, as unique as the bond it represents.
Placenta encapsulation
Tincture
Several skin disorders
The placenta cream is made with the placenta and a combination of food for your family's skin, like shea butter and coconut oil. It takes about 2 days to be ready for use.
Benefits: therapeutic massage on baby and family; assists with collagenases healing the wounds; healing and skin regeneration (bites, rash, psoriasis, and others); skin hydration.
The sound of your womb
This is one of the most beautiful memoirs one can make. It is a small drum, which you can play with your fingers, and it sounds like your pulse. Very gentle, and meaningful object to have.
Umbilical cord garden
A spiritual approach
Based on the Andean wisdom, it is possible to make several readings on the placenta. We offer two readings: lineage reading to get information about the family lineage, and the baby's power animal reading. Both readings are made in the most loving way to give you what else your placenta has to offer you. A placenta is also an oracle, and it stays with us forever.
Tamborcito
To consume in the weeks and months after birth
Placenta encapsulation consists in dehydrating the placenta and encapsulating it. The process takes on average two days and can be made up to 5 months after delivery (when the placenta was kept frozen).
Benefits: indicated for decreasing baby blues symptoms; it increases milk production; improvement in mood swings; iron replacement after birth; an increase of energy.
To consume for life
The tincture is made in a process that takes about 6 weeks. Tinctures are a great way to keep placenta medicine for longer as it is made with alcohol. When properly stored, the family can use it for a very long time.
At Ventre, we make three different kinds of tincture: mother tincture, father tincture, and umbilical cord tincture. According to Andean wisdom, each one of the tinctures can assist with different things. The umbilical cord tincture can be used for the arteries, bronchi, lymphatic, nervous, urinary, respiratory, and digestive systems. The best tincture for the baby's first year.
Benefits: assists in regenerating the vital force and strengthening the immune system; balances the emotional and physical; assists in the postpartum, during your menstrual cycle it is indicated for PMS; menopause; insomnia; stress; and can also assist in cases of anxiety.

Reading of the placenta
Amulet
To guard the baby
In the Andean tradition, an amulet is made with the placenta. The amulet is to be kept by the baby's mother until the baby turns 7 years of age. After that, the baby's father is responsible for keeping the amulet safe. When the child turns 14 years of age, the amulet is handed to his/her godmother or godfather. It is only when the child turns 21 years of age, that he/she will be responsible for their amulet. It is a very beautiful passage ritual.
To keep the connection between worlds
The garden is made with spices and dried flowers. Inside it is placed the baby's dried umbilical cord. A pretty and gentle memoir.
Placenta print
The baby's map
The print is the first thing to do with the placenta after it is born and detached from the baby. The placenta keeps the map of the baby's lineage on the baby's side of it, so the side where we see the Tree of life. On the mother's side, we can read the baby's animal power. Which is a totem that will follow the baby during his/her life.
